Summer 2022 - Another summer in the Aegean Sea, Greece

Once again a fantastic season in the Aegean. And a quite special summer with very little wind in the Cyclades in August and September, so often we've been staying many days at the same island. But still we logged 620nm during eight weeks. There are so many islands to explore, so now some new ones are added to our “been there” list: Folegandros, Sikinos, Ios, Iraklia and Naxos. Other islands visited this summer was Kimolos, Polyaigos, Kouffonisi, Schinoussa, Antiparos, Sifnos, Serifos, Kythnos and Kea.

Summer 2021 - Again the Aegean Sea, Greece

Another special summer with the corona virus still affecting life for everyone. But more busy than last year. Anyway, we managed seven weeks and 530nm of wonderful sailing in the Aegean Sea and the Cyclades. And again, no guests on board this year. Visited old favourites like Kea, Syros, Naoussa/Paros, Schinoussa, Koufonisi, Amorgos, Antiparos and Sifnos, but also went to some new places!

Mykonos was one of them, although nice in its own way it won't go on our favourites list..., too hyper! More so for Kimolos and Polyaigos near Milos! The meltemi was definitely present at times, had a brisk F8 ride from Kea to Syros, but amazing how well Cheetah handles it! Also noticed smoke at times from bush fires in the north, it gave some spectacular sunsets, but were mainly not noticed during the day. We also discovered, thanks to a local sailor who told us, that Koufonisi got their own Cheetah rock, see last picture below! (Click on images to expand).

The plan was to visit to Turkey as well but Greek borders were closed for coming back due to covid-19. Total trip was 700nm, so many great places, and not too strong meltemi this year, although inevitably a few nights with 12-16m/s (30kn), like at Koufonisi and Sifnos. (Even gusts up to 18-20m/s (40kn)). But our new Ultra anchor is keeping up! And perfect temperatures, strangely only around 25-27°, in August!! And with a lot fewer boats than normal! No guests on board this strange year, only the two of us, so I have appointed Cathrine "crew of the year"!

Complete itinerary: Kilada, Dokos, Poros, Aegina, Sounion, Kea, Kythnos, Syros/Finikada, Paros, Schinoussa, Amargos, Levitha, Leros/Lakka, Kalymnos, Pserimos, Leros/Panteli, Agathonisi, Samos/Phytagorion, Patmos, Amorgos/Kalotyri, Koufonisi, Schinoussa, Antiparos/Despotiko, Sifnos, Serifos, Kythnos, Andros, Kea, Sounion, Aegina, Dokos, Ermioni, Porto Heli, Kilada.

Summer 2020 - The Aegean, Greece

A very special summer with the world fighting the corona virus. Fortunately Greece just opened its borders just in time for us to do a wonderful two and a half months trip in a figure eight path across the Aegian Sea, through the Cyclades to the Dodokanese and Samos, all the way to the Turkish border.

Summer 2019 - Greece

Three months, 1000nm from the Ionian to the Aegian Sea around beautiful Peleppones. June and July spent island hopping in the Ionian, with Corfu, Lefkas, Kefalonia and Ithaka. Also a very brief visit  to Zakynthos where we lost our anchor, it broke in two! Parked for August in Kilada, then back in September to explore Hydra and the Cycklades, where we visited Kythnos, Serifos, Paros and Sifnos. Five nights in the bay of Naoussa at Paros riding out a Force 7 meltemi... Sifnos became our favourite! Great addition to our gear this year was a new electric outboard motor, baptised Elvira! Not used our petrol outboard once since!

Summer 2018 - Portugal to Greece

Three months, 2200nm and six countries. Nonstop from Vilamoura, Portugal 1.June to exotic Smir, Marocco, then to Spanish SE coast before hopping over to the Balearic islands visiting Formentera, Ibiza, Mallorca and Menorca. Then almost four weeks around Sardinia and fantastic Costa Smeralda in July including a brief visit to Bonifacio, Corsica, France. Crossed over to Sicily for a "go home" break in August. September restart with a splendid week in the magic Aeolian islands and some more of lovely Sicily. A quick stop on the toe of mainland  Italy before the final long leg to Greece, where we had a magnificent two weeks in the Ionian sea.

"Thank you again for the wonderful time on board Cheetah, it was really great fun and it gave me some good memories. You and Cathrine are wonderful hosts and it is a pleasure to sail with you. I hope that in the process I also supported you during this start of season and I look forward to our next sail together."     - Federico Speziali, 1st mate

Summer 2017 - to Portugal

2300nm from the Swedish west coast to Norway, across the North Sea to Scotland, through the Caledonian canal, the Scottish west coast on to Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and then directly 700nm south across the Irish Sea and Bay of Biscay to La Coruna, NW Spain. Then laid back cruising in Galicia and on to Lagos, Portugal, with great stops in Porto and Lisbon.

"A truly unforgettable voyage with Cathrine and Thomas on their fantastic custom built sailing yacht. I enjoyed each and every mile on Cheetah... :)"   - Lionel Hertig, 1st mate

"I could not have wished for a better boat to sail on, or better crew to sail with. I thoroughly enjoyed my time on this exceptional vessel in both 2016, and 2017, and feel lucky to have seen so much of Northern Europe from her deck." - Stephanie Barker, deck hand/galley

"I had the pleasure of sailing on Cheetah from Belfast to Muxía, via Peel and A Coruña. So what's she like, this Cheetah? A fast, powerful and extremely comfortable cruising yacht. It was wonderful to spend time sailing on a one-off that had been carefully thought through to remove lots of the little irritations that are encountered on so many modern boats. A highlight of this trip was beating west from A Coruña through the Atlantic swell: Cheetah took it comfortably in her stride punching through with feline grace. And Thomas? Well... he's a gentleman and a kind, supportive and calm skipper. A fantastic experience."    - Neal Gwynne, crew

Summer 2016
